The Medium Hypothesis

Physics describes what happens in the universe, but not where those effects actually take place.

The Medium Hypothesis proposes that all physical effects occur inside a geometric structure that exists before physics itself.

This structure is what we call the medium.

What the Medium Is

The medium is not matter.
It is not energy.
It is not space as defined by physics.

The medium is the geometrical structure that allows physical effects to exist at all.

In simple terms:

Physics happens inside the medium.

Without the medium, there is no place for motion, interaction, or physical laws to act.

Where the Medium Comes From

The medium does not appear randomly.

It originates from a deeper layer we call pre‑physics, which exists in a zero‑dimensional state (0D).

0D is not “nothing.”
It is a state that contains all possible structures in potential form.

From this 0D state, a three‑dimensional geometric structure (3D) becomes expressed.

That 3D structure is the medium.

0D and 3D in This Framework

In this framework:

  • 0D is the source of structure

  • 3D is the expressed structure

  • Physics is what we observe happening inside that structure

So when we say 0D → 3D, we mean:

All physical space emerges from a deeper, non‑physical state.

This is why the medium is considered pre‑physical, even though physics operates within it.

What Is Outside the Medium?

If physics happens inside the medium, then what is outside it?

In this framework:

  • The medium does not exist inside another physical space

  • The medium emerges from 0D

  • 0D is not a location, but a structural origin

There is no “outside” in the physical sense — only before in the structural sense.

Why This Matters

This hypothesis explains several long‑standing problems:

  • Why physics has fixed limits

  • Why constants exist

  • Why space has structure

  • Why physics cannot explain its own foundation

Physics studies effects.
The medium explains where effects can exist.

Connection to Mathematics and Zero

Current mathematics struggles with zero because it treats 0 as a value.

In this framework:

  • 0 is not a number

  • 0 is a state that contains all possible numbers

  • Numbers only appear once structure exists

This is why division by zero fails in current math — mathematics starts inside the medium, not before it.

A new mathematical approach becomes possible only when 0 is treated as structural origin, not emptiness.

Status of the Medium Hypothesis

This hypothesis is:

  • Conceptual

  • Pre‑mathematical

  • Exploratory

  • Consistent with known physics, without replacing it

It does not yet define the medium mathematically.
It defines why the medium must exist.
